How it works

From a price on the board to a deal on the phone

A buyer should always see real, current prices — never a stale or dead list. A seller should never have to chase business — just keep one number updated.

If you are buying

  1. 1

    Search the item you want

Before you see a single price you see how alive the market is — “50 sellers available, 7 active” — so you know what you are looking at.

  2. 2

See live prices as big, simple buttons

One button per price point. Several sellers can sit behind the same number. Tap one and you see each of them — still anonymous, as “Seller A” and “Seller B” — with how much they have and when they last set that price.

  3. 3

    Pick the seller you want

This is the moment you commit. Their identity unlocks, yours unlocks to them, and they are told a buyer has picked them. Sellers are not locked to one buyer, so somebody else may have picked them at the same time — they decide who to deal with, as they always have.

  4. 4

    Call through the app

Neither of you sees the other’s real number, on the call or after it. Every call is recorded, and says so before either of you speaks.

  5. 5

    Say what happened

Deal Done, Negotiating, or No Deal. If it does not work out you simply go back and pick a different seller — every other price was visible the whole time, so nothing needs reopening.

Need something a standard price cannot answer — a large parcel, custom delivery terms? Post a requirement instead. Sellers dealing in that item see it and call you.

If you are selling

  1. 1

Set one price per item you deal in

Type your price per MT and the quantity you have. That is the whole listing.

  2. 2

Keep it current — one tap

When nothing has changed, “Same as before” is the whole job. Buyers see how old your number is and a standing note that price is subject to confirmation, so nobody is misled either way.

  3. 3

Prices expire with the market, not on a clock

Nothing counts down at you. When the market reopens, a price from a previous day is due to expire, and it actually lapses the next time you open the app — or after 24 hours if you do not. It never disappears from your own screen.

  4. 4

Or go and find the buyers

Buyers posting requirements are shown to you in full — name, location, what they need — with a button to call them. The call still goes through the app on a masked number.

No seller ever sees what another seller is quoting.

What it costs

Commission is charged only once both sides confirm the deal and their numbers match. It is 0.1% of the deal value, whatever its size, and each side pays it in full — it is not split between you, which is how brokerage has always worked in this trade. Deals you record by hand from elsewhere are never charged.

A quick, important note

OrbMetal is a connection and facilitation platform only. We help you find the right buyer or seller and make it easy to connect — but we are not a party to any transaction that takes place through our platform. We do not guarantee the quality, quantity, pricing, delivery, or payment of any deal, and we are not responsible for any dispute arising between buyers and sellers.

  • Prices are never published publicly, and are never attached to a company name until that buyer and seller have chosen each other.
  • We do not take title, hold your material, or handle the trade money.
  • We do not hand out phone numbers. Calls go through the app on masked numbers, and neither side sees the other’s real one.
